The Clock Tower on Salisbury Road is the last standing fragment of a railway terminus demolished in 1978, when trains leaving Kowloon connected, in theory, to Europe. Everything around it is younger.
Reclamation has pushed the shoreline out so many times that most of the ground beneath a Hong Kong Walking Tour Tsim Sha Tsui did not exist a century ago.

Opposite it, the Peninsula keeps its 1928 proportions beneath a tower added in 1994. Inland, Nathan Road narrows into a corridor of tailors, guesthouses and mansion blocks; Chungking Mansions alone holds several hundred businesses across five interlocking towers, an informal trading floor linking South Asia and East Africa to the Pearl River Delta. 1881 Heritage preserves the old Marine Police Headquarters, built in 1884, as an arcade. Access itself costs nothing. The waterfront at Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon is free entry for all visitors and open 00:00–23:59 every day of the week, which means the district can be read at any hour: freighters at dawn, office windows at midnight. The better Hong Kong Walking Tour Tsim Sha Tsui tours treat that openness seriously, framing the harbour as evidence of housing pressure, migration and trade rather than a row of Hong Kong landmarks to be photographed and left behind.
